Silk fabric with silver nanoparticles

Textile Technology

Where luxury materials meet modern science.

LATRAVLA was created for travellers who care about skin, sleep, and the quality of what they rest on.

Every textile decision we make - from our silk weight, to the way we bond silver, to the dyes and finishes we use - is deliberate.

This page explains the craftsmanship behind your PillowWrap™ and PillowMask™, and why our materials outlast trends, flights, and seasons.

22-Momme Mulberry Silk

We use 22-Momme Mulberry silk, one of the highest grades used in luxury bedding and couture accessories.

Why 22-Momme?

• Stronger, denser fibres than standard 16–19 Momme silks
• Longevity – holds its shape and sheen over time
• Naturally breathable for cooler, drier sleep
• Hypoallergenic, and resistant to dust mites and mould
• Ultra-smooth to help reduce friction on skin and hair

This density allows our silk to remain buttery soft yet durable enough for real travel — folded, packed, unpacked, and used in unfamiliar environments night after night.

Silver Nanoparticle Infusion

Our signature treatment uses silver nanoparticles bonded to the silk using a sericin-based infusion process, designed to keep the technology stable and integrated inside the fibres.

Why silver?

• Used for centuries for its antimicrobial properties
• Microscopic – invisible to the eye, felt only in freshness
• Stable – bonded during fabric finishing
• Moisture-responsive – activated by humidity and skin contact
• Long-lasting when cared for properly

This helps support a fresher sleep surface between washes – ideal for travellers, sensitive skin, and anyone who spends nights in hotels, Airbnbs, or guest beds.

Hotels will always be hotels. What you bring with you can change everything.

From Fibre to PillowWrap™

01
Raw Silk Selection

We begin with long-strand Mulberry fibres from trusted, cruelty-conscious farms.

02
Weaving & Weighting

Silk is woven into a 22-Momme fabric - dense enough for longevity, soft enough for nightly comfort.

03
Silver Nanoparticle Infusion

Silver nanoparticles are bonded to the fibres using a sericin-compatible process that keeps the technology stable and integrated.

04
OEKO-TEX® Dyeing

Colour is applied using low-impact, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified dyes.

05
Finishing & Softening

Fabric is softened mechanically, not with heavy chemical coatings, preserving breathability and glide.

06
Cutting & Sewing

Each PillowWrap™ and PillowMask™ is sewn in small batches by skilled textile workers.

All LATRAVLA fabrics are produced in small, ethical batches. We prioritise:
