Can I wash it?

Yes! It is machine washable (gentle setting) and hand washable too. Dry in the shade and do not tumble dry. Can be ironed inside-out.

Will the silver wash out?

Sericin, a natural silk protein, has a strong affinity for metal ions, making it an excellent binder for silver. When silver is infused into silk during processing, its antimicrobial properties are highly durable, typically lasting through 30–50 gentle washes with only a gradual decline. In one study, sericin–silver silk retained over 90% antibacterial effectiveness after 20 washes, with activity slowly reducing after that point. The main factors that accelerate silver loss are harsh detergents, high heat, and mechanical stress such as machine washing or tumble drying.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. Our silk is naturally hypoallergenic and dyed with OEKO-TEX® certified, non-toxic dyes. The silver nanoparticles are bonded within the fibres, not sitting on the surface, so they won’t rub off on your skin. This makes the PillowWrap™ and PillowMask™ gentle enough for even the most sensitive or reactive skin types - protecting you without irritation.
