A considered brand, three years in the making

LATRAVLA was never going to be “just another” silk pillowcase.

For three years, Jamie refined, researched, sampled and started again, refusing to release anything that wasn’t deeply thoughtful – to your skin, your health, and the planet.

Sustainability, for us, isn’t a buzzword. It’s a design brief.

Every decision – from fibre choice to ink colour – is filtered through one question:

“Will this still feel respectful – to tradition, to science, and to the places we love – years from now?”

Biodegradable & recyclable outer packaging

We use recyclable cardboard cartons and biodegradable or compostable mailers wherever possible, minimising plastic and ensuring most of your packaging can go straight into paper recycling or your home compost (local rules may vary).

Reusable cloth pouches

Your PillowWrap™ arrives in a reusable fabric pouch designed for ongoing travel – to carry your wrap, your jewellery, or other small essentials. Packaging that becomes part of your ritual, not landfill.

Considered print & finishes

We keep ink coverage and coatings intentionally low, favouring minimal, design-led layouts that remain recyclable and feel premium without unnecessary waste.

Three years of refinement: our sustainability timeline

Research & refusal to rush

Ingredient deep-dives, fabric testing, meeting with manufacturers, and saying no to countless shortcuts that didn't feel aligned with our values.
Year 1
Year 2

Prototyping & real-world testing

Dozens of samples travelled across continents, slept on in hotels, guest rooms and cabins. We tested wash routines, durability, comfort and finish until it met both our aesthetic and sustainability standards.

Final details & community commitments

Packaging redesigned to minimise waste, responsible partners chosen, and give-back pathways defined in Australia and Bali – only then did LATRAVLA launch.
Year 3

Materials that respect both skin and planet

We use high-grade mulberry silk for its natural breathability, softness and reduced friction against skin and hair. Our fabrics and dyes are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, meaning they're independently tested for harmful substances, so what touches your face for eight hours each night meets strict global safety standards.

Our silver treatment is engineered to minimise odour-causing bacteria on the fabric surface, helping you maintain a cleaner sleep environment between washes. It's applied using controlled, modern textile technology and is designed to be durable through regular, gentle laundering – so you can wash less often, with more impact per wash.

By combining premium fibre, careful finishing and durable construction, we design for long-term use. A well-loved, well-cared-for PillowWrap™ replacing years of single-use or low-quality bedding is one of the most powerful sustainability choices you can make.

Giving back: 1% and beyond

LATRAVLA was born from years of travel between Australia and Bali. These places, and the communities within them, are woven into our DNA.

1% for the Planet

We proudly direct a portion of our revenue towards environmental initiatives, including support for organisations aligned with the 1% for the Planet ethos – protecting natural spaces, oceans, and biodiversity that make travel worth experiencing in the first place.

Community-based programmes in Australia

From local wellness and sleep-health education to supporting community initiatives that uplift women, small businesses and health-focused projects, we prioritise collaborations that have real, measurable impact close to home.

Supporting Bali's creative & cultural ecosystem

Bali has been both muse and home. We seek opportunities to give back through community-based programmes – working with local partners, artisans and initiatives that respect culture, heritage and the land, rather than simply extracting from it.

Your role in the ritual

Sustainability is a shared practice. Small choices in how you care for your LATRAVLA pieces extend their life and reduce impact.

Wash with care

Cool, gentle hand or machine wash in a delicates bag with silk-safe detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals and over-washing to preserve both fibre and finishes.

Air-dry where possible

Line or flat dry out of direct, harsh sun to protect the silk and reduce energy use.

Travel with intention

Pack your PillowWrap™ in its pouch, use it wherever you sleep, and return home with one piece that has replaced many washes, wipes and disposables along the way.

A promise we keep revisiting

Sustainability for LATRAVLA is not a box we’ve ticked – it’s a living part of the brand. As we grow, we’ll continue to refine materials, update our practices, and support initiatives in Australia, Bali and beyond.

Because designing a beautiful object is one thing.

Designing it to honour the people, places and planet that make travel possible – that’s the real work.
